Valentine’s Day Flowers
aNeMonE Paper Flowers, America’s only full scale paper florist, will be selling Valentine’s Day Paper Floral Arrangements February 1st - February 14th, 2nd level River Park Square, near Nordstrom.
A woman named Naomi gave us some beautiful Japanese Washi paper last year. Her mother, a Japanese native, had a passion for paper and quite a collection. The papers are all unique patterns that are not readily available, and many have gold inlay. We were truly blessed and inspired to receive this gift, and would like to “gift on” by donating 25% of the proceeds of these items to the Women and Children’s Free Restaurant in Spokane.

Pictures of the snow storm
Last month we broke the 1950s snow record. The Associated Press said more than 59 inches fell! What a mess. Spokane city used its entire snow removal budget by March of 2008. I suppose Bellingham WA had it worst off seeing they actually sold all of the cities snowplows. They told motorists to “stay home and God Bless.”
I guess this is a good time to admit that YES we are firm supporters of taking care of our planet and reforming us as a nation to not be such sloth, wasteful people….. we don’t however believe the propaganda of the “man made global warming, we are going to destroy the earth” talk. Jim Hansen, Nasa scientist and leading climate expert, so boldly proclaimed this month that Obama has 4 years to save the earth. Here me on this one, this is the same man who in 1971 boldly claimed the earth was going into another ice age due to mans actions and we MUST act now to stop it.
Okay why the change in theory with out a single explanation as to his conclusions. Furthermore when a politician (Al Gore in this case) tells you ALL scientist agree you should question him, especially when he wins a noble peace prize, and has never once debated the other side of the story publicly. Okay if you would really like to hear the other side of the story, check out The Great Global Warming Swindle or you can watch this video
If you haven’t considered the other side of the story now is the time. So here are some pictures of our record snow!!!
One day it warmed up and the snow melted a bit so I dug a hole and we stuck icicles on top to build a castle!
That night it snowed 18″ and covered our castle!!! One cool thing about the snow is that you can see birds better!
As always thanks for reading.

Heart Shaped Cookies
Truth be told, this is a cookie we made for Christmas. When it came time for frosting it, I really didn’t feel like using food coloring, so I got creative. I used the zest and juice from a grapefruit, chopped dried strawberries that we picked from Green Bluff mixed with powdered sugar. Yummy!!! The next batch I used an orange. These would be great for Valentine’s day cookies
This year we hung our ornaments in zig zags across the ceiling on ribbon. That was a fun project, the boys loved it
Tradition is great, but what fun to add new twists to old ways… Or maybe sometimes even leaving the old ways?
Enjoy the cookies!

Happy New Years!!
For those of you who don’t know, our front yard is public land that is filled with wildlife. Daily bird watchers walk by our front yard on their way to hopefully get a glimpse of one of the amazing creatures. Today two HUGE hawks flew by our window and landed on a nearby tree. This was a perfect home school moment. We got out our binoculars and looked at the birds, then we opened the computer and looked up hawks. This is where I found Michael Rosenbaums Flicker Site
All I can say is WOW!!! This man travels around the world capturing amazing photos of birds. We were lost in his photos. If you are interested in learning more about our front yard visit Palisades Website
As always thanks for reading and Happy New Year!

Slings
Awhile back I co-directed a play called “Birth.” A group of concerned mothers hosted an informational event to build awareness regarding the subject “birth.” At this event I won a sling made by Stacey Goranson of Baby Moon Slings
Everywhere I go people ask where I got my sling. More people tell me they wish slings were around when they were raising children. This comment is funny to me because it shows how little we know of other cultures. I have been stuck without a baby carrier and used a sheet to tie the baby onto me.
Another sling maker I love is Sarita of Sarita Star Designs. Sarita sews beautiful custom apliqué slings. Her work has blossomed over the last few years and the results are stunning.
If you are looking for a baby carrier or a gift for new parents check out Sarita and Stacey and their beautiful slings! As always…. Thanks for reading our blog

Holiday Season
Selling gifts during the holidays has been fun. People have been filled with joy at the thought of giving the ones they love a special gift. I am reminded of how important it is to be filled with a spirit of joy and peace. Many people are so hurried and stressed now. Why is this? What has become of us when we will trample and kill to be the first in line at a box store for the “big sale”
Here is a picture of what you are really saving…
Thank you to all who support us and everyone else working to create a better community
